Continue to improve payment methods and maximize investment opportunities while providing excellent customer service.
What efforts would you undertake to increase collection of delinquent taxes?
Over the past three years we have: increased investment and interest income to over $22 million, increased real estate collections by over $20 million, increased personal property collections by over $6.3 million, maintained an average real estate collections rate of 97%, average personal property collections rate is 92.3%, used online auction to return 85 properties valued at over $6.7 million to the tax rolls, collected $3.7 million from online auction sales, provided paid internships to 57 Portsmouth high school students, added digital wallet payment options (PayPal, PayPal Credit, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay). We will continue to take advantage of all current and future technology advances to increase collections and enhance the citizen experience.
