The Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite is leaving adult subscription service OnlyFans behind to focus on his baking business.
Whaite announced back in February that he would be starting an OnlyFans account featuring explicit gay content, and would be “leaving the TV industry” firmly in his past.
At the time, he said he would be “focussing on business” including both OnlyFans and his sweet treats company Ruff Puff Brownies.
In a post on Instagram on 16 September, Whaite revealed that his brownie business – plus his first brick and mortar store Ruff Puff Bakehouse, which opened Mawdesley in April – had given him “a true sense of purpose again”.
“I’m leaving OnlyFans,” he wrote in the post, which included a selfie of the former Strictly Come Dancing finalist and his dog.
“Life has shifted in a way I couldn’t have predicted — Ruff Puff Bakehouse and Ruff Puff Brownies have taken up so much of my time, but in the best possible way. They’ve reminded me of a talent I’d neglected, and given me a new respect for the craft that first set me on this path all those years ago,” he continued.
“Working side by side with the team, creating something real and lasting, has shown me that my value isn’t in muscles or body image — it’s in building, baking, and sharing. For the first time since Bake Off 13 years ago, I feel a true sense of purpose again.”
Whaite assured his fans that his “new chapter” was “one rooted in passion” and that he was “ready” for the new challenge.
He rounded off his post by ridding himself of his OnlyFans alter ego Jonny Boy, writing: “I’m not Jonny Boy, I’m just John, and I’m putting one foot in front of the other just like the rest of the world.”
In the comment section, his fans praised him for going “full circle”.
“Life is a recipe – always in progress, but for this chapter you have all the right ingredients,” wrote one sweet poster.
Back in July, amid his swap from daytime TV to OnlyFans star, Whaite praised his husband, graphic designer Paul Atkins, for his support.
“The thing that I’m most proud of in my life, without a shadow of a doubt, is the fact that my husband and I have been through 18 years of togetherness. When we got married we had all the mentions of ‘I give myself to you’ taken out of the script,” he said.
“There was no ownership involved in our wedding vows. We’re growing as individuals but side by side like two strong oak trees. I think that is the thing I’m most proud of, that I get to experience a relationship that is founded on mutuality and sincere respect for one another.
“He’s my favourite human being,” he added.
