    Here’s the Theme for Garifuna Settlement Day 2025

    As September celebrations draw to a close with only Independence Day remaining, preparations are underway to celebrate this year’s Garifuna Settlement Day.

    The theme for this year’s November 19th is “Garifuna Moving Forward: Honoring Tradition, Embracing Change, Strengthening Identity.”

    Its native language translates as “Garifuna: Wabaronguóun lidan Garifunaduáü: iúnrahei warasan, agahabuda lun sánsiguaü, inebesei lun wanichigu. “

    The theme encapsulates the “cherished national observance that honours the enduring legacy, vibrant culture, and resilient spirit of the Garifuna people of Belize,” the National Garifuna Council said.

    This year’s theme was submitted by Christie Vernon from the San Ignacio Branch.

    The Solidarity Mass in Belize City and the Miss Garifuna Belize Pageant at the Belize Civic Centre will be held on November 1, 2025.
