Bills Veteran Joey Bosa Opens Up on His Health & on ‘Fresh Start’ in Buffalo

Bills Veteran Joey Bosa Opens Up on His Health & on 'Fresh Start' in Buffalo

The Buffalo Bills have had a nearly perfect start to the 2025 campaign. With wins over the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets, the Bills have already taken control of the AFC East division, while also getting an early leg up on the Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs, their top two competitors in the AFC, when it comes to playoff seeding.
For years, Buffalo has had a talented roster, but they haven’t been able to get over the hump and find their way to the Super Bowl. The front office made several moves this offseason in an effort to change that this season, one of which saw them sign star pass rusher Joey Bosa in free agency. After spending the first nine years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, it sounds like Bosa is thrilled to have found his way to the Bills for the 2025 campaign.
Joey Bosa Opens Up on His Move to the Bills
Bosa was selected by the Chargers with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, and it didn’t take long for him to become one of the most feared pass rushers in the league. After racking up 10.5 sacks in 12 games as a rookie, Bosa immediately won the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award, confirming his status as one of the top young talents on the defensive side of the ball.
During his time with Los Angeles, Bosa was selected to five Pro Bowls, with his most recent selection coming in 2024. The problem was that Bosa was forced to miss a lot of time due to injuries, and the Chargers opted to move on from him this offseason, which led to the Bills signing him to a one-year, $12.6 million contract in free agency.
In just two games, Bosa has enjoyed a strong start to his time with Buffalo, as he’s racked up four tackles, one sack, and a league-leading three fumbles forced. Sometimes, a change of scenery is all a player needs to get back on track, and when speaking on his decision to sign with the Bills, it sounds like that’s precisely what happened for Bosa.
“It is crazy to think that I’m 30, but I have a lot of life left,” Bosa said, per John Wawrow of AP News. “And when I’m feeling good, I feel nice and young. And I’m feeling as good as I have my entire career. I think I have a lot to prove to mainly myself, because that’s all that really matters, that I still have stuff to give to this game. It’s just nice to have a fresh start with a new team and get to experience football in a different environment and a whole new situation.”
Joey Bosa, Bills Looking to Continue Their Winning Ways in Week 3
One of Buffalo’s top goals this offseason was to find a de facto pass rusher who could come in and bolster their front seven on defense. Bosa ended up being the guy, and while he’s only played in two games, he’s already found a way to make an impact for his new squad. If he can keep this up for the entire season, the Bills could wind up being the most dangerous team in the AFC.
There’s still a lot of football left to play, and while Bosa has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025 campaign, winning two games isn’t what he joined Buffalo to do. The Bills have big goals for this season, but in order to accomplish them, they have to get through the regular season first. Buffalo will be back in action on Thursday Night Football in Week 3, as they will take on the Miami Dolphins in a divisional matchup.
