Christine Snead is looking to lead the Hampton treasurer’s office for a second term.
The city treasurer is responsible for collecting and accounting for all tax revenues in Hampton. This includes personal and business property taxes, real estate taxes, storm water fees and other miscellaneous special assessments and taxes.
Snead, a Democrat, is running unopposed for the four-year term. She was sworn in as the city’s first Black treasurer in 2022.

What would be your top priority if elected to office?
My top priority would be to continue the collection of taxes in an efficient and effective manner by providing easy access and great customer service to citizens of Hampton.
What efforts would you undertake to increase collection of delinquent taxes?
Under my leadership delinquent tax collection rates are at 99.44%. I would continue using current and any new innovative methods to maintain and keep collections at the current level or higher.
