YSRCP resorting to negative propaganda over PPP model for medical colleges: Nandyal MP

Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari said that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was resorting to negative propaganda on the issue of medical colleges being set up under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode by the State government. She said that the State government was simply implementing the GO issued by the previous YSRCP government.

Inaugurating a free medical camp at Nandyal Government Hospital, arranged as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations, the MP said that the Centre had sanctioned ₹8,500 crore to set up 17 medical colleges in the State, while the previous government had spent only ₹1,400 crore and left the works incomplete. “The NDA government is trying to complete the medical colleges that were started by the previous government based on the GO issued by it,” she said.

Ms. Shabari said that the NDA government wanted to complete the works of the medical colleges in order to provide quality medicare facilities to the poor. She questioned the YSRCP leaders if there was any mention of poor people having to pay fees to get medical care in government colleges as per the GO issued by the previous government and sought to know why their leaders were making a fuss over the issue.

She also criticised the previous government for fixing high fees for category B and C students pursuing education and added it was nothing but depriving the poor of medical education.
