The Office of the Welfare and Cess Commissioner, operating under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, has extended key deadlines for the Pre-Matric Scheme. The scheme, which offers financial assistance for the education of children of beedi, cinema, and certain mine workers, has new dates for the academic year 2025-2026.

According to a notification dated September 16, the last date for submitting applications on the National Scholarship Portal has been extended to September 30.

Following the submission deadline, the verification process also has extended timelines. The deadline for INO (Institute Nodal Officer) level verification (L1) is now October 15, while DNO (District Nodal Officer) / SNO (State Nodal Officer) level verification (L2) has been extended to October 31.
