The Post Office is to provide a new mobile service for residents in an area of Ayr. The previous Hawkhill Post Office branch closed in May 2025 following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use. However, a new mobile Post Office service will start on Wednesday, September 24 at 9am. A Post Office spokesperson said: “We are pleased to be able to reinstate the service as an interim mobile service whilst we continue to seek a permanent solution. “A Mobile Post Office is a travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle. The Mobile Post Office will be operated by the postmaster. The Hawkhill stop will operate from 125 Lochside Road, Ayr, KA8 9LJ, every Wednesday from 9-10am. “This is only 42 metres from the previous location of Hawkhill Post office at 2 Lawson Street KA8 9LP.” The services offered are a comprehensive range of Travel Money and Vehicle Tax.
