Last time, we talked about back-to-school season and the importance of giving yourself grace as routines start to change. Now that we’re a little deeper into September, I want to check in with you: how’s the shift going so far?
Maybe you’re finally settling back into a rhythm. Or maybe the gym feels more crowded, your calendar feels a little too full, and you’re still figuring out where your workouts fit.
Either way, you’re not alone — this time of year has a way of shaking things up for all of us.
A gentle reminder
If you’ve slipped, missed a few workouts, or had to cut sessions short, it doesn’t mean you’re failing. It just means you’re human. Seasons of life demand adjustments, and progress is not about perfection — it’s about persistence.
My own shift
For me, this season has looked a little different. Instead of squeezing into group classes, I’ve been heading to the stadium with Chocolate Sonshine in tow.
While the twins run around and get their energy out, I take the chance to get in some fresh-air cardio.
Honestly, this is nothing new — HindsSight was born at the stadium and going to the stadium was something I leant on in my early post-partum days with the twins.
Back then, we practically lived outside. I’d get my workouts in while the twins napped in their stroller.
Sometimes, it wasn’t glamorous, but it gave me a sense of normalcy, fresh air, and movement when everything else in life felt brand new and overwhelming.
Now, returning to that space feels like coming full circle — a reminder that fitness can flex and evolve with each season of life.
Finding motivation in the crowd
Yes, the gym might feel busier right now. But instead of seeing it as an obstacle, try to see it as energy. Every person in that space is choosing to prioritise their health, just like you are. That collective drive can be fuel, not frustration.
And if the crowds make it tough, remember: consistency doesn’t require the “perfect” workout.
A quick 20-minute session, a walk at lunch, or a body weight circuit at home all count. Something is always better than nothing.
This season isn’t about flawless schedules or perfect routines. It’s about showing up in the best way you can, day after day.
Give yourself credit for every small win — because small wins stacked over time lead to big results.
So I’ll ask again: how’s your shift going? Take a moment to reflect, celebrate the progress you’ve already made, and recommit to the path forward.
Happy Wednesday fitfam. As usual remain unapologetic about your entire fitness and wellness journey, stay true to yourself and always be honest with your efforts.
