New Delhi: Several explosions were heard in Qatars capital Doha late on Tuesday 09 September 2025 evening. According to eyewitnesses a cloud of smoke was seen rising over the Qatar district of the capital. Meanwhile the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that it had carried out a precise attack targeting the senior leadership of Hamas. However the IDF did not clarify whether the attack took place in Doha or somewhere else.
IDF issues statement
The IDF statement said “This leadership of Hamas has been carrying out terrorist activities for many years and is directly responsible for the October 7 massacre. Before the attack highly accurate weapons and intelligence inputs were used to protect civilians from harm. The IDF and ISA will continue to take action to eliminate Hamas with full determination.”
Hamas’s chief negotiator shot dead
According to initial information Al Arabiya has claimed that Hamass chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya has died in the Israeli attack in Qatar. This person used to negotiate with Israel. However this news has not been officially confirmed yet. Israel has only said that its attack was carried out by targeting the senior leadership team of Hamas.
Israeli officials have revealed that the USA was informed in advance about the attack on Hamas in Qatar and the action received full support from Washington. On the other hand Qatar has described this attack as a gross violation of all international laws. Qatars Foreign Ministry said that this attack is not only a direct threat to its sovereignty and security but also a serious risk to the lives of Qataris and foreign citizens living there.
Qatar admits Israel carried out the attack
Qatar has admitted that Israel attacked Doha. Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Dr. Majid Al Ansari said that the attack took place on a residential complex where many members of Hamass Political Bureau live. He said that this attack is not only a clear violation of international laws but also a direct threat to Qatars security and sovereignty. Ansari said “Qatar strongly condemns this attack and wants to make it clear that such reckless actions that compromise the security and stability of the region will not be tolerated.”
America issues advisory
The US Embassy in ​​Doha has issued immediate instructions for all US citizens to remain in a shelter-in-place situation. The embassy said that it is not safe to go out at this time and everyone should stay at their place of residence. Citizens have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and keep a constant watch on government updates. Citing security reasons it has been warned that the situation may become volatile. US citizens have been advised to inform their family and friends about the situation and contact the embassy as needed.
