Busitema University student Rayan Ahmed Kakomo is the new student ambassador at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) for the epoch 2025-2026.
The Table Tennis player was confirmed by the FISU president Leonz Eder as he was appointed in the new role.
“It is a great honor to be appointed as a FISU Ambassador.” Kakomo, also the 15th Games Union president at Busitema University remarked upon landing the appointment.
Service and honor:
Kakomo rates the appointment as a service platform and an honor in the same vein, with a bold target to enhance excellence in university sports world-wide with the opportunity to promote cultural diversity and student-athletes’ empowerment.
“This appointment is both a responsibility and a privilege, as it provides me the platform to contribute to the mission of fostering excellence in university sports, advancing cultural exchange, and empowering student-athletes worldwide.” Kakomo adds.
The young Ugandan is among the 126 FISU student ambassadors appointed world-wide.
In Africa, Uganda is joined by Algeria, Botswana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, The Gambia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Kakomo eyes promoting the values of FISU with a targeting diligent service with a bond between education and sports internationally.
“I am committed to upholding the values of FISU and working to strengthen the bridge between education and sport on the global stage” he concluded.
FISU was founded on 1st January 1949 with their main headquarters in Lausanne city, Switzerland.
There are 165 member associations, including Uganda.
Uganda’s Penninah Aligawesa Kabenge is among the vice regional vice presidents to Leonz Eder.
The others include Luciano Cabral (Brazil), Marian Dymalski (Poland) and Liu Jin (China).
