Keluettan Centre for Study and Research, a research body under the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], is launching a new course that takes a critical look at Hindutva politics.
According to K.T. Kunhikannan, CPI(M) leader and director of the centre, the course will attempt to present Hindutva, the “ideology of Indian fascism”, in a historical context and as a political theory. It will also highlight the “neo-fascist characteristics” of Hindutva, which are formed by corporate developmental agenda and neo-liberal capital, and the challenges they pose before modernity and secular-democratic politics. A total of 23 subjects will be covered. J. Prasad and P.P. Abdul Razaq will be its coordinators. The classes will begin by the middle of October.
Some of the topics include the origin of Hindus, the nature of Hindu culture, the difference between Sramana religions and Hinduism, the six branches of Indian philosophy, the characteristics of Indian materialism, the history and evolution of Hindutva, and Savarkar and Mahatma Gandhi’s murder. Up to four classes will be held in a month. The course comes with a registration fee.
