Microbiology Day 2025 celebrated at Women’s Degree College Karimnagar

Karimnagar: International Microbiology Day-2025 was celebrated at Government Degree College for Women, Karimnagar (Autonomous) on Wednesday.
It was jointly organised by the Departments of Microbiology, Botany and Zoology. The faculty and students enthusiastically participated and provided a valuable message on the services provided by microorganisms to the society.
Participating as chief guest in the programme, the college principal, Prof D Varalakshmi explained that microorganisms play an important role in our way of life. Microorganisms were present in every corner of nature. They would play vital role in human health, ecological balance and the development of research, she said.
Academic Coordinator and Head of the Department of Life Science, Dr Nalla Manoj Kumar said that microorganisms were a boon to industries. Their use in food products, alcohol production, pharmaceuticals, enzymes and biotechnology products was remarkable.
It was necessary to identify not only harmful but also beneficial microorganisms for the society, he suggested.
On the occasion, chart presentations, race painting, essay writing and elocution competitions were organized with the aim of bringing out the talent of the students.
While participating in the elocution competitions held on the topic “Useful Microorganisms – Harmful Microorganisms”, the students shared their scientific understanding.
Similarly, butter milk probiotic, beetroot, ginger and common panias were prepared and distributed to participants.
Microbiology In-charge Athiya, faculty members Anita, Dr R Devender, Tirupati, Ramya, Mounika, Kaur and others participated.
