The top 10 most complained-about TV shows of 2025 so far have been revealed, with This Morning entering the top 10 after Rylan Clark’s immigration rant. TV and entertainment experts at OLBG have analysed Ofcom complaints data to reveal the TV shows that have amassed the most viewer complaints in 2025. Love Island, which aired over 8 weeks, generated over 13,500 viewer complaints. To put this into context, the 2024 series amassed just 2,903 Ofcom complaints. A newcomer into the top 10 is ITV1’s This Morning. On Wednesday, 27 August, Rylan Clark, who was co-presenting with Josie Gibson, shared his strong opinions on illegal immigration in the UK, which generated over 700 Ofcom complaints. Later that day, Rylan Clark took to Instagram to release a statement to explain his stance. Love Island will not be investigated by Ofcom despite the thousands of complaints about alleged bullying, abusive behaviour and misogyny. The most controversial episode was on 24 July, after which 3,547 complaints were lodged about alleged bullying against Shakira Khan. Ofcom said it had decided not to open a formal investigation because the negative behaviour “was not shown in a positive light”. A spokesperson said: “We carefully assessed the complaints we received about this series of Love Island,. We recognise that emotionally charged or confrontational scenes can upset some viewers. But, in our view, negative behaviour in the villa was not shown in a positive light, and contestants were seen supporting or apologising to each other. “We also took into account that the format of this reality show is well-established, and viewers would expect to see highs and lows as relationships and friendships are tested.” ITV said: “We would take any suggestion that any editorial decisions are made based on race very seriously indeed and would refute this in the strongest possible terms.” Rylan Clark’s comments about immigration on ITV’s This Morning sparked hundreds of Ofcom complaints. The show received complaints related to comments made by the presenter during a discussion about migrants being housed in hotels. Clips of Clark, 36, quickly went viral, where he argued that something “major” needs to be done about asylum hotels. During the discussion, Clark said: “This country is built on immigration, legal immigration. You know that a lot of the nurses, the doctors that have saved my mum’s life have come over here from other countries, are living a great life, they’re paying into this tax system, they’re helping this country thrive. “I find it absolutely insane that all these people, one risk in their lives coming across the channel like that, they are but two, when they get here it does seem, and I think this is why a lot of Labour voters as well are now sitting there going there’s something wrong here, it seems ‘Welcome, Come on in’. This is the narrative we’re being fed. “Here’s the hotel, here’s the phones, here’s the iPad, here’s the NHS in reception of your hotel, here’s three meals a day, here’s a games room in the hotel. Have a lovely time and welcome. “And then there’s people that have lived here all their lives that are struggling. There are people living on the streets, veterans, all of this. Now this isn’t me getting on my soapbox, because, let me be honest, everyone’s gonna have an opinion about this, and you’re gonna upset someone some which way. “I believe that something major needs to be done about this. The money that it’s costing us, the amount of people that are in this country that we have no idea who they are, what they’ve done, what they’re capable of and clearly, we see a lot of it in the press at the moment – what some are doing, it’s not all, what some are doing to people in this country.” The presenter later shared a statement on Instagram which read: “You can be pro immigration and against illegal routes. You can support trans people and have the utmost respect for women. You can be heterosexual and still support gay rights. The list continues. Stop with this putting everyone in a box exercise and maybe have conversations instead of shouting on twitter .” Vanessa’s Channel 5 show sparked complaints when designer Karen Millen said that feeding children breast milk past six months was an ‘addiction’ and ‘weird’. GB News sparked complaints after a presenter made comments about the LGBT community and paedophiles. Sky News sparked complaints over a comment about Greta Thunberg’s humanitarian mission to Gaza. Celebrity Big Brother generated complaints about the interaction between and behaviour of houseguests – including Mickey Rourke, Chris Hughes and Jojo Siwa. People complained to Ofcom about Sabrina Carpenter’s performance at the Brit Awards. The most complained-about TV shows of 2025
