The Democratic Party is ramping up its financial support for Mikie Sherrill‘s bid for New Jersey governor, injecting an additional $1.5 million into her campaign as the race enters its final stretch.
The Democratic National Committee has now dedicated $3 million on — marking the largest investment the organization has ever made in the state during an off-year election cycle.
Both Sherrill and Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli are intensifying their messaging in the final run-up to November’s election, with each campaign focusing on themes of affordability and economic relief.
“Republicans like Jack Ciattarelli have put their blind allegiance to Donald Trump ahead of the needs of New Jersey families,” DNC Chair Ken Martin said Tuesday. “Even as the disastrous Republican agenda spikes costs, slashes jobs, and threatens health care access across New Jersey.”
This is on top of $20 million in advertising money the Democratic Governors Association has poured into the race to back Sherrill. Greater Garden State, a super PAC affiliated with the GA, has released commercials attacking Ciattarelli.
Meanwhile, Ciattarelli continues to receive backing from the Republican Governors Association, which has so far committed $1 million in advertising dollars in the state. Restore New Jersey, a super PAC affiliated with the RGA, launched attack ads targeting Sherrill.
“For years, New Jersey Democrats pushed an insane green agenda that resulted in fewer power plants and increased energy costs,” said Restore New Jersey Chairman Daniel Scarpinato. “Now, instead of solving the problem, Mikie Sherrill wants to lock in higher prices. She’s proven time and again that she offers nothing but more of the same failed policies while New Jersey pays the price.”
The stakes are high in the Nov. 4 election. Both candidates are vying to replace term-limited Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, and all seats in the state Assembly are on the ballot.
In recent weeks, Sherrill and Ciattarelli have clashed over who is best positioned to lead New Jersey’s economic future.
“Today’s reminder that Mikie Sherrill’s policies will cost you — in her words — ‘an arm & a leg,’” Ciattarelli said Monday on social media, echoing the Republican Governors Association criticism of rising energy costs.
Meanwhile, Sherrill kept her criticism focused on Ciattarelli’s ties to Trump, who has endorsed him.
“I hear it from New Jerseyans every single day: costs are rising and Trump’s tariffs are making it worse,” Sherrill said Tuesday on her social media channels.
