Opinion: NDP government’s disastrous fiscal update adds to B.C.’s woes

In 2023-24 (the latest year of available data), more Canadians left B.C. (9,199) than moved to it. Given the province tends to be a net recipient of interprovincial migration, this is a stark warning. And many of those leaving B.C. are working age. Put differently, B.C. is losing workers who contribute to the provincial economy, provide revenue to the government (in personal income and other taxes) and cost less (e.g. in health care) than their older counterparts.
