Live: Nampijinpa Price vows to speak up from backbench after sacking

Hello, and welcome to our federal politics live blog! It’s nice to have you here.

I’m Josh Boscaini, joining you live from Parliament House in Canberra, here to bring you all of today’s federal politics news.

A bit has happened since the blog was last up and running yesterday, so let’s get you up to speed.

Liberal senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price yesterday refused to apologise for her comments on Indian migration and didn’t back the opposition leader’s leadership.

The fallout was swift. Just hours later, Sussan Ley announced that she had dumped Nampijinpa Price from the Coalition shadow ministry.

Ley says she made the decision because the NT senator didn’t express support for her leadership and failed to apologise for her comments on Indian migration.

So here we are. Let’s get straight into the day and see what it brings us!
