MBBS seat matrix 2025-26: NMC allots zero seats to 5 medical colleges, reduces seats in 11

New Delhi: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has allocated zero (0) MBBS seats to five medical colleges across the country this year. NMC did not grant the seats for any medical colleges at these medical colleges due to pending court matters.Apart from these, the Apex Medical Commission has also reduced the MBBS seats at 11 other institutes- either during the renewal process or due to the creation of supernumerary seats for the last academic year.Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the tentative MBBS seat matrix for the academic year 2025-2026.As per the data released by the Apex Medical Commission, there are a total of 123700 MBBS seats available this year, including the 6850 MBBS seats that the NMC approved this year. Last year, the Commission granted permission for 117750 MBBS seats. The list includes Andhra Pradesh-based Gayathri Vidya Parishad Institute of Health Care & Medical Technology, Chhattisgarh-based Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Delhi-based Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Gujarat-based Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Kalol, and Telangana-based Father Colombo Institute of Medical Sciences, Warangal.This year, NMC has not allotted any seats to these medical colleges due to pending court matters.Last year, Gayathri Vidya Parishad Institute of Health Care & Medical Technology had NMC approval for 200 MBBS seats, Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research had 150 MBBS seats, Hamdard Institute had NMC permission for 150 MBBS seats, Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences & Research had 150 MBBS seats, and Father Colombo Institute of Medical Sciences also had 150 MBBS seats.MBBS Seats Reduced: Apart from this, the Commission has also reduced the MBBS seats at 11 other medical institutes. The list includes Delhi-based University College of Medical Sciences & GTB Hospital, where NMC reduced 1 seat due to the creation of 01 Supernumerary seat in AY 2024- 25. For the same reason, NMC reduced 1 seat at Karnataka-based Chitradurga Medical College and Research Institute, 1 seat at Kerala-based Amrita School of Medicine, reduced 1 seat at Maharashtra-based Sindhudurg Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (SSPM) Medical College & Lifetime Hospital, 1 seat at Punjab-based Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, and NMC reduced 1 seat at West Bengal-based RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata.During the renewal process, NMC reduced 50 MBBS seats each at Gujarat-based Dr.Kiran C.Patel Medical College and Research Institute, Shantabaa Medical College, Amreli, Kerala-based Palakkad Institute of Medical Sciences, Meghalaya-based PA Sangma International Medical College & Hospital, Tamil Nadu-based PSP Medical College Hospital and Research Institute.Also Read: NMC allots ZERO MBBS seats at 9 Medical Colleges
