One of the most refreshing aspects of Amazon Prime Video is that its film library isn’t limited to movies from the ’80s to the present.
Instead, Prime Video’s reach extends back six decades or longer, which is more than most streamers can match.
The Watch With Us team has gone over the long list of movies that joined the streamer in September and has come up with the five best Prime Video movies that you have to watch now, as ranked by Rotten Tomatoes.
Much to our surprise, the No. 1 movie on our list is an epic film that came out 62 years ago.
5. ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’ (2022)
Rotten Tomatoes rank: 71 percent
In between Mad Max films, director George Miller took on an unexpected romantic fantasy called Three Thousand Years of Longing. Tilda Swinton plays a scholar named Alithea Binnie, an older woman whose mind sometimes plays tricks on her. That’s why she’s not certain she isn’t hallucinating when she accidentally frees a Djinn (Idris Elba) from a lamp.
The Djinn offers Alithea three wishes, but she’s convinced that he’s a trickster who may use her desires against her. To prove his intentions, the Djinn shares three stories of heartache and regret from his vast lifetime that inspire Alithea to make a surprising choice.

4. ‘Crimson Peak’ (2015)
Rotten Tomatoes rank: 72 percent
Near the beginning of Crimson Peak, director Guillermo del Toro shows the audience one of the creepiest ghosts ever put to screen. But this isn’t the kind of gothic horror that goes for cheap scares. In the early 20th century, Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) is wooed by Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), a poor inventor who is always accompanied by his sister, Lucille Sharpe (Jessica Chastain).
Despite warnings from her father and her best friend, Alan McMichael (Charlie Hunnam), Edith falls head over heels in love with Thomas and marries him. However, their happy ending at his family’s estate on Crimson Peak is anything but, as Edith discovers the full extent of Lucille’s bond with Thomas.

3. ‘Casino’ (1995)
Rotten Tomatoes rank: 78 percent
The irony of director Martin Scorsese‘s Casino is that its leading character, mob sports handicapper Sam “Ace” Rothstein (Robert De Niro), is completely unprepared for the corruption of Sin City. Ace just doesn’t understand the people who make Las Vegas their home in the ’70s, including his treacherous wife, Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone), who openly despises him.
Even Ace’s best friend, Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), is left transformed by Vegas’ vices. By the time Ace realizes that Nicky can’t be trusted, his Las Vegas empire is going down in flames.

2. The First Omen (2024)
Rotten Tomatoes rank: 83 percent
This prequel to The Omen was very well-received by critics in 2024, and The First Omen is a rare film that actually enhances the movies that came before it. Game of Thrones‘ Nell Tiger Free stars as Margaret, an American novice who works with orphans.
When Margaret prepares to take her final vows to become a nun, she discovers that she is the central figure in a global conspiracy designed to unleash the Antichrist upon the Earth.

1. ‘The Great Escape’ (1963)
Rotten Tomatoes rank: 94 percent
The Great Escape is a World War 2 movie that takes a lot of liberties with the true story of an escape attempt from a German POW camp. The cast includes legendary actors Steve McQueen, James Garner, Charles Bronson, Donald Pleasence, James Coburn and more as British and American POWs who make the audacious decision to break 250 prisoners out of the camp at once.
It’s a dangerous undertaking, especially since discovery may get all of them killed. The escape attempt is anything but smooth, yet the men make the most of their opportunity, even though it will be a one-way trip for some. And not everyone will live to see it through.
