My prediction is Dr Campbell will resign in less than a year

Dear Editor,

I am going to make a prediction about Dr. Terrence Campbell and his party. My prediction is that Dr. Campbell will resign from his party in less than twelve months. This may seem bold, but I base it on several clear observations about his character, values, and the political culture in which he now finds himself.

Dr. Campbell stands apart from the typical politician in Guyana. He is one of the very few in his party who does not want or need anything from anyone. Unlike others who enter politics for power, wealth, or personal advancement, Dr. Campbell is already extremely successful. He is a man of means, a man of achievement, and above all, a man whose entry into politics is driven by his love of country. He has no interest in deals, no appetite for backroom arrangements, and no inclination to compromise with corruption. Simply put, he is unbribable.

These qualities, while admirable, will also be the very reasons he will clash with his colleagues. Guyanese politics has long been plagued by greed, division, and hidden agendas. Too many see politics as a ladder for personal enrichment rather than a platform for national service. Dr. Campbell, however, is cut from a different cloth. He will not tolerate corruption, dishonesty, or even the hint of impropriety within his party. His insistence on transparency and accountability will naturally create enemies among those who thrive in confusion, manipulation, and mediocrity.

As these tensions grow, Dr. Campbell will find himself surrounded by opposition within his own camp. His principled stance will be mocked, his warnings ignored, and his calls for reform resisted. He is not the type to waste time arguing with individuals who put self-interest above the nation’s good. He is not the type to quietly watch foolishness unfold around him. He has neither the patience nor the tolerance for stupidity, deception, or disorganization. And when the internal battles reach a breaking point, resignation will be his only option.

History has shown us that men of principle often struggle to coexist with those who put ambition above integrity. Dr. Campbell will not allow himself to be dragged into the mud of politics-as-usual. Instead, he will take the honourable path, stepping away from the very environment that refuses to live up to the standards he embodies.

For these reasons, I firmly believe that within a year Dr. Terrence Campbell will resign—not because of weakness, but because of strength. His love for country and his refusal to bend to corruption will make it impossible for him to remain in a party that does not share his vision of clean, honest, and transformative leadership.

Yours faithfully,

Anthony Pantlitz
