Mirziyoyev inspects Namangan airport - Qalampir.uz

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Namangan region on September 16 to review regional development projects and the living conditions of the population, the presidential press service reported.

Immediately after arrival, the head of state inspected the airport, where new terminals are being built with $140 million in investments. The project was first presented during his visit to the region last year.

Along with passenger terminals, a large cargo terminal is under construction. Once completed, it will handle 50 tons of cargo per day and enable exports to 90 countries. Officials noted that the facility will help create a unified cargo system in the Ferghana Valley and expand the region’s business, export and transit potential.

The airport will also be equipped with upgraded special service equipment, allowing it to receive and service aircraft of various sizes. Plans include the construction of catering facilities, a refueling complex, and other utility buildings. The new terminals are expected to be operational next year.

Mirziyoyev instructed officials to develop infrastructure around the airport in line with global best practices. He emphasized the importance of building hotels, shopping and entertainment complexes, and other modern services. Additional facilities such as parking areas and service centers are also planned to expand convenience for visitors.

The president last visited Namangan on March 25, 2024, when he criticized regional leaders and officials for not fully utilizing the region’s potential.
