New Look has confirmed that another store is set to close its door for good next week, the latest in a wave of locations across 2025. The next store in line for closure is the brand’s Scarborough location, which is confirmed to shut its doors on September 17. Including this location, there has been a total of 13 closures across the UK in 2025. Read more: HMRC warns UK households who have money stashed away in an ISA A New Look spokesperson said: “Our store estate is an important part of our business, alongside our best-in-class website and app. “It is this omni-channel approach which allows us to best serve our 10 million customers, however, they like to shop. “We have recently invested over £3 million in our stores in Greater Manchester to trial new omni-channel initiatives to improve customer experience. “Using the learnings from these trials, we are now upgrading a further 17 stores across the country. ‘We also continue to invest in our thriving online platform, which has resulted in a strong online sales performance, with volumes significantly outpacing last year and an improved online margin.” There were reports that the closures were a result of the rise in employment costs. In November 2024, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced increases in employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs) and higher National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates, along with energy costs also contributing significantly.
