Two persons killed as speeding car hits motorcycles near Vanagaram

A speeding car hit two motorcycles near Vanagaram on Tuesday, killing two persons. The police said the car driver was in a panic as he rammed an autorickshaw moments before causing the other accidents.

The police said Srinivasan, 33, an employee of an information technology firm and a resident of VGN Apartment in Thiruverkadu, and his three-year-old child went in their car to buy food at an eatery. While they were on their way back, Srinivasan accidentally rammed an autorickshaw. Immediately, members of the public took him to task.

Stressed over the incident, Srinivasan drove off and caused the two other accidents, one after the other. First, Srinivasan hit a two-wheeler at the Vanagaram signal, knocking down Krishna Prasad, 63, of Noombal, who later died of injuries. Soon, he hit another two-wheeler near the Vanagaram fish market, killing its rider Arjunan, 34, on the spot and critically injuring Jagadeesan, 60, who was on the pillion. The traffic police and passers-by chased Srinivasan’s car. They intercepted and stopped the vehicle at Velappanchavadi signal.

Tries to attack crowd

Srinivasan allegedly tried to attack the crowd after exiting the vehicle. He was caught and subjected to a medical examination. The medical examination revealed that it was not a case of drunk driving.
