A Nigerian female pastor has sparked intense debate online after advising married women never to publicly expose their husbands’ private struggles, including infertility or sexual health issues.
In a viral social media clip, the preacher admonished wives to maintain their husbands’ dignity, even in the face of ridicule.
“If you notice your husband is not a man or has a low sperm count… don’t wake up before the public to say it. Take the insult, swallow the insult and go cover the shame,” she said.
According to her, women should keep supporting their spouses quietly rather than “unaliving them alive” by making their conditions public.
She urged wives to smile in public, pray for their husbands, and encourage them to seek medical help discreetly rather than broadcasting their weaknesses.
The video has attracted mixed reactions online as some social media users are applauding the pastor for promoting discretion and marital unity, while others are criticising the advice as enabling secrecy and putting undue emotional pressure on women.
Many social media users are now debating whether the pastor’s counsel empowers marital privacy or reinforces harmful silence around men’s health issues.
