Washington Academy tied for the most first-place votes last week but was ranked second in the Varsity Maine volleyball poll. The Raiders received same amount of No. 1 votes, but have moved into first place in this week’s rankings.
Thornton Academy didn’t make last week’s top 5, but voters took notice of its early-season victories over Class A powers and move the Golden Trojans up to second. Scarborough added a first-place vote this week but dropped from No. 1 to No. 3.
The volleyball poll is off to a wacky start. Further evidence: Six teams garnered first-place votes, and two of them — Brewer and Cheverus — are not in the top five.
The Varsity Maine volleyball poll is based on games played before Sept. 16, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
