Sam Thompson branded best pal Pete Wicks “rude” over his behaviour when they car share together. Former I’m A Celebrity..Get Me Out of Here! winner Sam and TOWIE star Pete bonded when they starred in Celebs Go Dating together.
Sam, 32, and 37-year-old Pete have stuck up a close friendship since and even present the Staying Relevant podcast together. Last week the pair hosted the red carpet at the National Television Awards.
It meant the duo had to hotfoot it across London after recording the latest episode of their podcast together. Sam joked it means Pete would have “an hour and a half in a car” together with Sam asking “are we there yet”.
Pete however was “thankful” for having his headphones with him. Sam shot back: “I find it really weird. Pete, whenever I’m in the f*****g car with him, will put his headphones on. It’s the rudest…how rude is that? He just literally goes, ‘Right, I’m down’, and then puts the headphones in and they’re wired.”
Pete explained: “I’ll tell you why I do that, because it gives me time to listen to my breathing exercises and stuff. But also, because Sam sits next to me and just doomscrolls TikTok so all I hear in the background is TikTok music and trends.”
Former Strictly star Pete went on to say he finds the trends “annoying” and has to listen “four times” as Sam scrolls past and goes back to it. He added: “It does my f*****g head in.”
When appearing on Loose Women and Men recently, Sam said he believed the pair were going to be friends from the off. But Pete had another feeling, admitting he wasn’t keen on Sam at first.
He admitted: “I couldn’t stand him. That’s the God’s honest truth, he did my head in because he was too much.
“But then he stuck around and he was so persistent that I have grown to love him and now he’s not just my friend, he’s my brother and I wouldn’t want to do life without him, but he is very needy.”
Pete reckons the pair “couldn’t be more different” and that’s what makes their friendship “works”.
This comes as the duo recently supported a “two is more than one” campaign from Twix.
Pete said: “We couldn’t be any more different, and that just works, so we (or more so Sam) jumped at the chance of combining our names. He’s gutted he didn’t think of it first.
“Jokes aside, the best thing about our duo is we always have each other’s backs – and you can’t ask for more than that.”
