Students urged to focus on becoming techno-entrepreneurs

Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Southern Range), Mysuru, M.B. Boralingaiah, on Tuesday urged students to focus on becoming techno-entrepreneurs, highlighting the abounding opportunities in the innovation ecosystem.

Speaking at the Student Induction Programme organised by JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU) at SJCE, Mr. Boralingaiah emphasised that instead of seeking jobs after graduation, students should aim to become job creators, dreaming big as the country inches closer to becoming one of the world’s largest economies.

He elaborated on the opportunities available in emerging sectors such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. The city’s proximity to Bengaluru, the innovation hub of the nation, provides students from Mysuru with a greater advantage to start innovative ventures, he said.

The next two decades are crucial for India’s growth with a lot of opportunities to people in the innovation sector. The demographic dividend has to be fully exploited, he said, urging students to seize the moment, while adding that they are “at the right place at the right time” to make a mark in the coming years.

JSS STU Vice-Chancellor A.N. Santosh Kumar presided over the event. Shashi Bhushan, vice-president and head, Business Innovations, TCS, Bengalurum, was the guest of honour. SJCE in-charge principal C. Nataraju, Registrar S.A. Dhanraj, and others were present.
