EastEnders fans are saying that they’ve ‘worked out’ how a bribery twist may result in the death of an Albert Square favourite. It’s been a while since a character on the BBC soap has died, outside of Nigel Bates’ chickens being fatally attacked by a fox this week. The last human to pass away on the programme was Martin Fowler , who lost his life in the Queen Vic explosion along with Reiss Colwell in February. In the world of soaps, it’s rare that the residents of a fictional town are able to go several months without having to attend a funeral. However, viewers are now convinced that a storyline at the centre of this week’s drama may take a tragic turn. Jack Branning and Ravi Gulati have been involved in a game of cat and mouse this week, after they accidentally shot Zoe Slater . Initially telling his colleagues that Ravi was an informant working for him, policeman Jack is now trying to make sure that he goes down for the crime they both committed. After catching Jack out acting shady , Ravi did the unthinkable and revealed all to Jack’s wife Denise Fox, who he previously had an affair with. In scenes aired on Wednesday (September 9), Denise was in disbelief that Jack was involved in the shooting, but he soon confirmed her fears. The pair erupted into a furious row, leading to Denise storming out and Jack heading to Ravi’s flat, where a physical fight broke out. Despite her anger, Denise corroborated Jack’s version of events with Oscar Branning, who was the one who found the gun in the first place, and later reconciled with her husband. While this was going on, Ravi’s partner Priya Nandra-Hart was ready to move away from their home with their children Avani and Nugget. Convinced that Ravi is involved in illegal business, Priya’s troubled partner decided to come clean about what actually happened, leading her to cancel her plans and stay with him. The episode ended in a shocking cliffhanger as Ravi demanded £100k from Jack for putting his relationship at risk or he will reveal all to the police. “Don’t be stupid, Jack. You’re the one who should be scared of prison. So, what’s it going to be,” Ravi said as the credits rolled. Over on the EastEnders Reddit page, fans expressed their fears that this storyline is going to result in either Jack or Ravi’s death. @LilNardoDaVinci said: “I’ll be honest i see Ravi or Jack dead by the new year.” @Apprehensive-Cap2453 added: “Between the two of them, it would definitely be Ravi. Jack has been in the show for the better part of 20 years. He’s iconic, Ravi isn’t.” @gameofgroans_ wrote: “Thing is Jack is so boring now, it’s just the same stuff and ordering takeaways. He’s not really had any storylines that are just him and not work related for ages. I do agree it’ll likely be Ravi though, but I’m not sure I’d want it to be.”
