There is significant news for aspiring teachers and lecturers in Uttar Pradesh Inter Colleges. The educational qualifications for these positions have been updated, now requiring candidates to hold both a Post Graduation (PG) and a B.Ed degree. This new mandate applies to non-government recognised and aided inter colleges. Krishna Kumar Gupta, Special Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Government, has issued an order enforcing these changes and revoking the previous rules.
Old Order Cancelled, New System Implemented
The earlier directive dated April 22, 2025, has been fully repealed and replaced by a new rule under the Intermediate Education Act 1921. With this revision, a post graduation degree alone is no longer sufficient to qualify for a lecturer position in inter colleges; candidates must also possess a B.Ed degree. This modification aims to enhance the quality of teaching.
High School Biology Teachers Are Also Affected
This change impacts not only inter-college lecturers but also high school biology teachers. Assistant teachers in biology now require both a graduation degree and a B.Ed degree, whereas previously only a graduation degree was necessary. By mandating the B.Ed degree, the government underscores the importance of professional teacher training.
The government updates regulations periodically to enhance educational standards. The B.Ed degree requirement aims to better equip teachers with effective teaching techniques and a deeper understanding of the curriculum. The B.Ed course includes training in child education methods, classroom management, and modern teaching techniques. This initiative is expected to improve teachers’ skills and provide students with a higher quality of education.
Candidates who were preparing to become teachers based solely on their graduation or PG degrees may face challenges due to this new rule, as they will need to invest additional time and effort to obtain a B.Ed degree. However, this measure is anticipated to improve education quality in the long run, particularly in non-government and aided schools where previous criteria were less stringent.
