The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has said that the State government has neglected implementing programmes that have got approval in the Cabinet meeting in Kalaburagi last year.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, district president of the organisation Bheemu Naik said that the Cabinet gave its approval for a total of 56 subjects that involved development programmes.
Of these, 46 subjects exclusively related to the Kalyana Karnataka region. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah promised to implement the approved programmes. However, except for a very few among them, a majority of the programmes have not been implemented despite a year having passed by.
The Chief Minister also promised a project worth ₹7,200 crore aimed at supplying drinking water to Kalaburagi and Bidar from Basavasagar reservoir in Narayanpur. He further assured that ₹11,770 crore has been earmarked for development works in the the region. However, there has been no progress made under these projects, he added.
Though there was a discussion on several subjects, including development of Kalaburagi as a Smart City at a cost of ₹1,685 crore, recruitment for 17,439 vacant posts, preference for tourism and improvement of health and industry sectors, there has been no significant change even after a lapse of a year, Mr. Naik said.
He urged the State government to implement the promises made during the Cabinet meeting last year concurrently with the new promises made in this year’s Cabinet meeting.
