A health check-up for departing passengers, a blood donation programme and eye check-ups for cab drivers are some of the initiatives being planned at the Vijayawada airport as part of the ‘Yatri Sewa Diwas’ on Wednesday (September 17) .

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Vijayawada Airport Director M. Lakshmi Kantha Reddy said the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had announced that the Yatri Sewa Diwas would be celebrated at all the airports in the country.

To enhance passenger experience, the authorities at Vijayawada airport have planned to take up activities such as welcoming all arriving passengers, taking schoolchildren to airport and familiarising them with the goings-on, raising awareness among students about career opportunities in the aviation sector, organising folk dance, tree plantation programmes and organising drawing competition on the theme of patriotism.

Mr. Lakshmi Kantha Reddy said that information about services available to passengers would be displayed at the airport and feedback would be taken from them on where improvements are necessary, the Director added.
