Rosie Bentham is best known as Gabby Thomas in Emmerdale.
The actress took over the role as the daughter to local vicar Ashley Thomas and hairdresser Bernice Blackstock in 2016.
Her time on the soap hasn’t been easy, with two broken engagements – the first to Nicky Milligan and now to Vinny Dingle.
Thankfully, her real-life love life has been plain sailing.
Rosie was born on 29 July 2001, making her 24 years old. She is originally from Nottingham, Nottinghamshire in England.
She was raised by her parents John and Marianne and has three siblings.
Sadly, her father passed away a week before she turned 18 in 2019 due to pulmonary embolism.
Opening up about the tragic loss, she told The Mirror: “It was such a huge shock.
“I was on a weekend away, and when I got told, I just couldn’t believe it because he hadn’t been ill beforehand.
“I got angry because I couldn’t understand why and how it had happened. I can remember saying ‘No, no, no’.”
Father’s Day was a special holiday for the family, with the actress sharing: “Dad loved being a dad more than anything else. It was such a big thing for him. It’s why I always tell my friends to reach out to their dads because you never ever know.”
She added: “When you have lost a parent, Father’s Day can be quite daunting. It can be quite a difficult day. I have it as a day of reflection.”
Before making her first appearance in Emmerdale, she took part in several plays, including Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma and Sound of Music.
Since taking over the role, she has been involved in major storylines, such as becoming a young mother, her failed romances and her tumultuous relationship with the Tate family.
Secret relationship
Rosie recently revealed that she has been dating her boyfriend for three years and has been able to keep her relationship away from the public eye.
Her partner had never seen Emmerdale before their first date and they were introduced by a mutual friend.
“We were introduced by a mutual friend and he knew what I did for a job but hadn’t seen the programme! His mum and grandparents watch Emmerdale, though,” she told The Sun.
“I am happy, and I am glad my life is a lot more peaceful than Gabby’s! We’ve been together for nearly three years. He is a quantity surveyor and lives in Yorkshire. We are both really into our health and fitness.”
While they have kept their relationship private, her boyfriend was able to be her date to the recent Soap Awards.
She admitted that even though her boyfriend isn’t interested in fame, he did enjoy getting a look into that side of her job.
Rosie shared that they haven’t moved in together yet, but she would love to get married in the future.
She explained that she would prefer a casual lowkey wedding instead of the bigger soap event.
