Suzlon Group, India’s leading wind energy solutions provider, has secured its largest order of FY26 with Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), one of the country’s biggest renewable energy players. The order, totalling 838 MW, marks Suzlon’s second-largest deal to date, after its 1,544 MW contract with NTPC Green Energy and signals the growing importance of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects in India’s energy transition.
As India moves towards its goal of providing round-the-clock, grid-stable clean power, FDRE systems, particularly wind-dominant ones, are emerging as game-changers in balancing renewable generation with reliability.
The project involves the installation of 266 units of Suzlon’s next-generation S144 wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. Spread across three states, the turbines will generate 302 MW in Karnataka, 271 MW in Maharashtra and 265 MW in Tamil Nadu. The project forms part of FDRE bids awarded to SJVN and NTPC, further highlighting the sector’s shift toward integrated, dispatchable renewable power solutions.
Girish Tanti, Vice-Chairman, Suzlon Group, said, “As Tata Power Renewable Energy embarks on a strategic transformation to achieve 100 per cent clean power by 2045, we’re proud to support this ambitious journey with our advanced, ‘Made in India’ wind technology. Our partnership, spanning over a decade and marked by the third repeat order, underscores our shared commitment to India’s energy transition. We share a deep-rooted vision of creating innovative energy solutions that are not only reliable and cost-efficient, but also designed to seamlessly integrate with India’s One Grid system.”
JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, said,“ TPREL is a discerning partner that demands the highest standards of technology, reliability, and execution. They set benchmarks that push the entire industry forward, ensuring wind plays its rightful role in delivering round-the-clock, dispatchable clean power at scale. The fact that Suzlon continues to be their partner of choice reflects our ability to align with this vision through proven ‘Made in India’ innovation and execution excellence.”
