WATCH: Armand Duplantis breaks pole vault world record for 14th time at the World Athletics Championships 2025

Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, who has been impressing everyone with his exceptional character and skills in the sport of pole vault, achieved yet another massive feat on Monday, September 15. Duplantis completed a hat-trick of World Athletics Championship medals at such a young age of 25 years. He also managed to break the world record for the fourth time this year.

The Swedish gem broke the record this time around by soaring up to 6.30m at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, where he achieved his first Olympic gold medal in 2021. The 25-year-old had an intense battle with the Greek star Emmanouil Karelis. Both of the athletes first crossed the 5.90m mark with seven other athletes. However, Karelis did not hold back as he cleared the 6m mark alongside Mondo Duplantis while others failed. He came close to achieving the moment of a lifetime. However, failed to cross the 6.10 and 6.15m mark in his remaining attempts.

Duplantis created the world record in his third and final attempt of the day

Duplantis was the one who stole the show yet again as he has registered himself as one of the greatest if not the greatest pole vaulters of all time. He cleared the 6.30m mark in his third and final attempt of the Day 3 at the World Athletics Championships 2025 and ended the day on a fairy tale note. The celebrations were as wild as the performance as he displayed something which was not usual for the spectators to witness. The stadium erupted with massive roars for the Swedish international.

He sprinted straight into the arms of his competitor Emmanouil Karelis who was all cheers for the 25-year-old to break the world record. Duplantis’ father could not hold back his tears watching his son create history in front of the entire world. It was a moment that the Swedish sensation will cherish forever and never forget.

“It’s better than I could have imagined. To give you guys this world record is amazing,” said Armand Duplantis after breaking the world record once again.
