Genesee County man changes betting style, wins $400,000 Club keno jackpot

LANSING, MI — A Genesee County man’s decision to switch up his bet led to a huge jackpot win in the Michigan Lottery’s Club Keno game.
“I typically play an eight-spot Club Keno ticket, but that day I decided to play a 10 spot instead,” said the 71-year-old winner who chose to remain anonymous. “I was watching the drawings while eating dinner at Uno’s when I saw all 10 of my numbers come in. It was so exciting!”
The winner matched 10 of the 20 numbers drawn — 03-07-13-17-23-27-33-37-71-77 — in Club Keno drawing 2505596 on Aug. 29 to win $100,000. However, the player also played the Kicker option which multiplied his win by 4x, leading to the $400,000 jackpot.
The winner bought his ticket at Uno’s of Birch Run, located at 8975 Market Place Drive in Birch Run. The man says he plans on saving his winnings.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Breakfast Club lottery club which claimed a $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a Powerball winner worth $250,000 sold in Bloomfield Hills in 2024 went unclaimed. That money went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
