Remember Donald Trump’s “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History” executive order? Well, according to the Washington Post, his administration has ordered exhibits related to slavery be removed from national parks.
One of the photographs reportedly set to be removed is this image below, widely known as “The Scourged Back.” The photo famously depicts a formerly enslaved man exposing the scars from whippings on his back.
Speaking to the Washington Post, University of Pennsylvania professor Jonathan Zimmerman said, “This represents an enormous increase in federal power and control over the things we learn. Brought to you by the team that says education should be state and local.”
