As part of efforts to strengthen clinical administration of Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH), the Chief Medical Director of the institution, Prof. Olusegun Ojo, has appointed Dr. Emmanuel Olaseinde Bello as the maiden chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee (MAC).
This newly inaugurated committee would serve as the administrative head of the Directorate of Clinical Services, a key pillar in the hospital’s structure and one of the three main directorates governing Federal Teaching Hospitals across Nigeria.
Dr. Bello, a seasoned Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist, is expected to make great impact in the institution with his wealth of experience and academic distinction.
According to his profile, Dr. Bello had his undergraduate training at the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, followed by Residency Training at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.
Besides, he is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in Paediatrics.
He started his career as a Consultant Paediatrician at the former State Specialist Hospital in Akure, in 2015 before becoming part of the founding medical staff at UNIMED Teaching Hospital when it was integrated into the UNIMED Teaching Hospitals Complex.
As Head of the Paediatrics and Child Health Department at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Dr. Bello was also a Senior Lecturer.
Aside clinical and academic roles he played, Dr. Bello also has held leadership positions on several statutory and ad hoc committees within the hospital and university, including the Infection Prevention and Control Team and the Hospital/Community Liaison Committee.
He’s renowned for his research, and has published many works extensively in respected Nigerian and international medical journals.
The newly appointed Chairman of FUTATH Medical Advisory Committee is described as a dedicated teacher, mentoring both medical students and resident doctors with high regard.
Dr. Bello is married and a committed medical professional shaping the future of healthcare at FUTATH.
