Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison recently said she is “struggling” during rehearsals for the BBC show. The former Geordie Shore star is one of the 15 famous faces hoping to follow in Chris McCausland’s footsteps of winning the Glitterball trophy this year. The comedian was crowned the champion with professional dancer Dianne Buswell, who this week announced she is expecting her first child. Ahead of the new season’s celebrities taking to the dance floor, Vicky admitted she had already been feeling the effects of minor training injuries. Taking to her Instagram page, she posted snaps of a nasty blister on her toe, cuts and swollen feet. Discussing her progress so far in a new interview, Vicky admitted it had been “intense”. She added: “Comparing yourself to others and beating yourself up, I am struggling at the minute. “I’m not a dancer, so everything’s really new. It’s a total baptism of fire and it’s been very fast. I hate being rubbish at stuff.” Speaking to Bella Magazine, the 37-year-old also claimed she is “really clumsy” and “accident prone”. “I’ve always kept myself relatively fit and healthy, then after my wedding, I fell out of love with it, so I haven’t done enough this year,” she added. The podcast star additionally revealed that she had recently discovered she hadn’t fully recovered from an old back injury. “I went on a trek with CoppaFeel! and it was cold, hard and uphill. I got a pinched nerve in my back, and I recovered, until I got to rehearsing.” In an update with fans on Monday, Vicky appeared in high spirits as she revealed that her “first day of proper training [was] in the bag”. “I have a partner, my first dance and our song,” she added. “You couldn’t say I’ve got all the gear and no idea. Wish me luck my loves.” Vicky’s update comes after she opened up about suffering from pre-menstural dysphoric disorder , which she was diagnosed with in 2023. According to the NHS , it is a hormone-related mood disorder which “can significantly affect various aspects of a person’s daily life”. “It affects me in the 10 days before my period,” she told The Mirror. “That is panic attacks, anxiety, insomnia, exhaustion and in some moments, there can be suicidal thoughts. Like every woman dealing with it, I’m just riding the wave. “There are moments I can be OK and be the bright, shiny version of myself that everyone expects, and then there are moments where I’m debilitated by it.” Vicky joins the likes of Love Island winner Dani Dyer, Gladiators’ Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, in this year’s BBC series. The professionals chosen to be dancing with a celebrity this year will be unveiled during the launch show this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing kicks off this weekend at 6.40pm on BBC One.
