The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), led by GMR AERO is set to make the upgraded Terminal 2 (T2) at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport operational from October 26, coinciding with the start of the winter schedule. Built by the Airports Authority of India four decades ago, T2 was temporarily closed in April for extensive upgrade work after state-of-the-art Terminal 1 became fully operational. The refurbished terminal is designed to handle growing passenger volumes with modern facilities and improved efficiency. From the intervening night of October 25–26, about 120 daily domestic flights operated by Air India and IndiGo will shift to T2. DIAL said the revamp was aimed at creating a seamless and future-ready passenger journey at India’s busiest airport, with both operational and aesthetic improvements across the 40-year-old facility. Speaking about the development, DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said that Terminal 2 is a complete reimagination of the passenger journey. “With innovative technologies like the Self Baggage Drop and autonomous docking aerobridges, we are empowering travellers, optimising efficiency, and preparing IGI Airport for the future of aviation. As India’s busiest aviation hub accelerates toward its next phase, these world-class enhancements underline DIAL’s vision to deliver an unmatched passenger experience while supporting the country’s growing air travel aspirations,” he added.Live Events The upgraded terminal introduces several new ‘passenger-friendly’ features:Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
