Steelers game in Ireland just received a new wrinkle following massive injury news that seemingly came out of nowhere

Steelers likely to face Vikings backup QB Carson Wentz in Week 4

“Things got really weird for the Vikings on Monday when Kevin O’Connell announced that J.J. McCarthy would likely miss Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, followed by the Adam Schefter report that he will likely miss 2-4 weeks with the injury. As things currently sit, the Vikings are likely going to start Carson Wentz in Dublin against the Steelers.”

“Is that a good thing? Well, he’s going to give you a baseline level of success that we hadn’t seen with McCarthy. He has plus arm talent to make every throw and can move with his legs. However, the issues that have plagued him for years probably aren’t gone for Wentz. If the offensive line doesn’t get healthy and perform better, Wentz could be in a brutal spot going into the Steelers game.”- Tyler Forness, A to Z Sports Minnesota

I think Tyler raises a great point on Wentz and his potential within the Vikings’ offense. He doesn’t have the ceiling that McCarthy does, obviously. However, his experience in the league could perhaps raise the floor of a unit that has had a rocky start in 2025.
