For Kerry’s Darragh Roche, every moment is a blessing, and being able to marry the love of his life, Tegan, is even more special, as it was only a few months ago that he had a huge health scare.
The county championship winner and former senior Kerry panellist was at home in January when he began to get sharp pains in his chest.
While Darragh didn’t want to cause a fuss, Tegan insisted that they call an ambulance. It was soon discovered that the 29-year-old was suffering from a heart attack.
Fast forward a few months, and the couple, who have one child together, tied the knot among some of their nearest and dearest.
The wedding took place in Lisbon, Portugal, so there was no risk of rain falling on their special day.
Tegan was a picture of beauty in a strapless white wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice. To finish the look, she went for a short clip-in veil, defining her elegant look.
After his scare, Darragh highlighted how the experience made him want to spend more time with the ones he loves and that his entire family has been ‘unbelievably supportive’ as he recovers.
Making sure it was a wedding to remember, Darragh and Tegan’s guests brought ‘the fun’ from start to finish, at one point hoisting up the bride and groom.
Changing into her second dress for the evening, Tegan wore a white halterneck dress that was decorated with flowers.
Unlike many brides who may want to keep their outfit pristine for the entire event, Tegan did not hesitate to join in the fun and did a backwards fall into the pool with her guests, loving each moment.
In what started out as a scary year, Darragh and Tegan have worked through the tough challenges and their wedding will now be the highlight, looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together.
Congratulations Darragh and Tegan!
