Dialogue Group Launches News Project

In an effort to counter the overwhelming consumption of negative news, the Dialogue Group has officially launched “Inspiring News: Dikgang tsa Kgotlhatso Khani Dzino Kudza,” a new project dedicated to showcasing stories of hope and positivity through cinematic storytelling.

The initiative, funded through the CIPA Levy for technical devices, seeks to highlight the contributions of everyday heroes in Botswana.

Speaking at the stakeholder and media launch on Wednesday morning, Dialogue Group co-founder Tonderai Tsara said the project was a direct response to the damaging effects of constant negative content on social media, which impacts mental health and overall outlook.

“Someone out there is doing something brilliant and innovative contributing to themselves, to society, and to humankind and no one is talking about it.

People are thriving in many ways, and those are the stories of hope we need to tell more,” Tsara emphasized.

The project’s content producer, Japhala Aether, added that the goal is to shine a spotlight on these individuals and their often-unseen work.

The mandate is to produce 52 episodes over the next two years, with the first 10 episodes already in production.

These initial stories will feature a diverse range of themes, including entrepreneurship, youth sports development, and the journeys of diverse talented individuals.
The group will also explore stories in business, innovation, and arts and culture.

The Dialogue Group is actively seeking collaborations with other storytellers to create professionally packaged content for their platform.

The “Inspiring News” series will be distributed primarily through social media channels including YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn with future plans to expand to other media outlets.

The stories will also be made available as filler content to enrich other programming.
