Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair returns to GB on September 19

On Friday, September 12 2025, the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (MOTIA) in partnership with the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board held a press conference at the MOTIA boardroom to officially welcome Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair back to Grand Bahama.

Logos Hope is scheduled to arrive in Freeport on September 19 docking at Freeport Harbour, North Gate.

The ship is operated by GBA Ships e.V. “Good Books For All”, a charitable organisation registered in Germany. The international crew comprises 300 volunteers representing 65 different nationalities.

Since its launch in 1970, Logos Hope has welcomed over 50 million visitors in more than 150 countries worldwide.

The ship travels around the world promoting good literature and raising funds for charitable causes. On board visitors can explore a book fair showcasing over 5,000 titles at affordable prices with topics ranging from health and wellness, history, sports, the arts, medicine, and more.

Senior Manager for MOTIA, Karen Rolle expressed her excitement about the ship’s return to Grand Bahama. “We’re excited to be a part of this great initiative,” she said. Rolle said she looks forward to hosting the Logos Hope team, confident they’ll have an amazing experience and looks forward to continuing the relationship.

“We believe this is an opportunity for families and also an opportunity for the community to collaborate and to interact with our special guest and to be supportive in this initiative as they spread the good news throughout the destination,” she added.

Logos Hope will be docked at Freeport Harbour, North Gate from September 19 to September 30, and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The vessel will be closed to the public on Mondays.

Admission is $2 per person. Children under 12 and seniors over 65 enter for free. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

According to Logos Hope Project Manager, Dominik Germann the ship’s International Cafe will be open to the public offering an opportunity to interact with crew members while enjoying a variety of food and beverages.

Visitors can also take part in a range of free onboard events suitable for all ages (registration required).

Germann encouraged the public to take part in this opportunity. “The Logos Hope has so much culture, so [many] stories to tell,” he said.
