To start off the 2025 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings have seen the good and the bad of having a first-year starting quarterback. J.J. McCarthy has had some great moments, but he has also had some moments that left fans scratching their heads.McCarthy is without a doubt the long-term future for the Vikings. It’s a move that could make sense if the Vikings are all-in on winning now.Here is what Banner had to say in his social media post.”Last week i said McCarthy is a long way from being a quality nfl QB,” Banner wrote. “X attacked and ridiculed me after he had a come from behind win against a bad D. I still think the Vikings should call Atlanta about Kirk Cousins. McCarthy may be the answer someday, but it’s not now.”Through his first two starts with Minnesota, McCarthy has completed 58.5 percent of his pass attempts for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has also picked up 50 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground.Cousins was the Vikings’ starting quarterback from the 2018 season through 2023. He had great chemistry with head coach Kevin O’Connell and still knows the offense well.Last season with the Falcons, Cousins struggled with turnovers but had an all-around solid year.
