The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) celebrated World Standards Day on Tuesday by organising Manak Mahotsav at Bharat Ratnam-Mega CFC, Seepz, Andheri East. Prof. U Kamachi Mudali, Vice Chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, honoured the event as chief guest. He highlighted the critical role that standards play in the manufacturing of specialized materials. As India continues to expand and integrate its infrastructure across the nation, he underscored the importance of harmonizing the materials used in various products, noting that standards developed by the BIS are pivotal in this endeavor. V.Gopinath, Deputy Director General, (Western Region) delivered the welcome address. He highlighted various initiatives and work done by BIS in the field of Partnership of Goals. Pinaki Gupta, Scientist-E & Head, (Mumbai Branch Office) presented the World Standards Day message. Shashi Bhushan, Executive Plant Head, Tata Steel, Khopoli; Suresh Deotalu, Vice President-Group India Quality Legrand; Philip Puthenpurackal, General Manager, Corporate Quality and Integrated Management and Safety and Sustainability, KSB; Dr. Bhagwan F. Jogi, Registrar, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai; and Dr. Sitaram Dixit, Chairman, Consumer Guidance Society of India, Mumbai were the guests of honour.
