EXCLUSIVE: Blumhouse and Sony’s Insidious 6 has set the remaining cast with Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers 2), Sam Spruell (Legend) and Island Austin (I Can Only Imagine 2) in the Screen Gems and Stage 6 Films franchise.
They joing previously announced Amelie Eve and Lin Shaye. As we told you, the movie is shooting in Australia from director Jacob Chase off a screenplay he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson for an Aug. 21, 2026 theatrical release. The last Insidious was the highest in the pic’s 15-year old franchise with $190M worldwide, all five movies totaling $740M worldwide.
The film is produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell, with executive producers Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and David Leslie Johnson.
Richardson-Sellers starred recently in the second season of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers. She will next be seen in AMC’s Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order. She can also be seen opposite Mark Rylance in the BBC limited series Wolf Hall. Additional television and film credits include: the LGBTQ+ romantic thriller Jagged Mind, Peter Kosminsky’s UK series The Undeclared War, The Kissing Booth 3 the sequel to the Netflix smash hit, a series regular on the CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Maisie has also starred in acclaimed stage productions of For Colored Girls, Mephisto, and They Will Be Red. British actor Spruell is currently filming the BBC series Dear England with Jodie Whittaker and Joseph Fiennes and will star in Philippa Lowthorpe’s film adaptation of H Is for Hawk opposite Claire Foy. Spruell recently wrapped the first season of HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, portraying Prince Maekar Targaryen in the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel set to premiere in 2025. He starred in BBC’s The Gold as Charlie Miller and most recently appeared in the Emmy-nominated fifth season of FX’s Fargo as Ole Munch, opposite Jon Hamm, Juno Temple, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Spruell is represented by Lou Coulson Associates and Luber Roklin Entertainment.

Newcomer Austin hails from Tennessee and began her career booking short films. Shortly before booking Insidious, she completed a supporting role in I Can Only Imagine 2 and is quickly becoming a rising star.
