Many fans attending tonight’s sold-out volleyball match between No. 18 Creighton and No. 1 Nebraska at the CHI Health Center will have to navigate some construction around downtown Omaha to reach and leave the arena.
Utility work for the upcoming streetcar has closed a one-block portion of 10th Street between Dodge Street and Capitol Avenue.
Utility work related to a construction project for a future city parking garage, The Beam apartment complex and the new Omaha Children’s Museum has also closed the southbound lane of 8th Street between Dodge and Douglas Streets.
The closures will directly affect fans who try to enter or leave Lot A by the arena.
The Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority advises drivers to take Capitol Avenue to 8th Street to reach Lot A. MECA said drivers should plan for extra time, prepare to take detours and be on the lookout for altered traffic patterns when driving to and from the arena.
Cass Street will be closed to eastbound traffic between 10th and 13th Streets. Similarly, 12th Street between Mike Fahey Street and Capitol Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic.
The CHI Health Center is located at 455 N. 10th St., or near 10th and Cass Streets.
