Former School Education Minister and Member of the Legislative Assembly S. Suresh Kumar said that he has urged all elected representatives to visit government schools in their respective constituencies and interact with the students studying there.
In a statement after meeting with representatives of School Development and Monitoring Committees (SDMC) from 15 districts on Tuesday, he said, “To provide quality education to students, I have written to all the MLAs, Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) of the state, requesting them to visit government schools in their constituencies and interact with the students.”
“The representatives have shared various issues including transferring teachers in the middle of the academic year is not good in the interest of students, providing textbooks before the commencement of the academic year etc., It was decided to bring out a monthly magazine on good works by SDMCs and to write to the government requesting to appoint subject teachers,” he added.
