DUCAB Group, a leading cable manufacturing company headquartered in Dubai, has expressed interest in partnering with Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to supply advanced cable solutions for the city’s expanding Metro network. The development was confirmed after a senior delegation from the company met Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil on Monday.
Plans for Bengaluru Metro
Following the meeting, Minister Patil said that DUCAB had already initiated discussions with BMRCL and its contractors regarding the supply of fire-survival and extra-high-voltage cables. These advanced cables are intended to enhance the safety and reliability of Bengaluru’s Metro infrastructure, popularly known as Namma Metro.
The minister also noted that the company had offered to support the construction of 132KV/33KV substations, which would be crucial in ensuring uninterrupted power supply for Metro operations.
Wider interest in Bengaluru infrastructure
Beyond the Metro, DUCAB has also expressed interest in providing sustainable energy cable solutions for Bengaluru’s upcoming suburban railway system and the expanded Kempegowda International Airport (Terminal 2). Minister Patil highlighted that such collaborations would align with the city’s long-term push towards modern, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure.

Strengthening Indo-UAE trade ties
The interest shown by DUCAB is also significant in the larger context of India–UAE trade relations, which have grown steadily over the past decade. With Bengaluru positioning itself as a major centre for industrial investment and urban infrastructure, collaborations with global companies such as DUCAB are expected to bring advanced technologies and sustainable practices to India’s public transport and energy sectors.
While formal agreements are yet to be signed, DUCAB’s engagement with BMRCL and its intent to expand into Bengaluru’s suburban railway and airport projects signals growing international interest in the city’s infrastructure growth. If materialised, the collaboration could improve the safety and reliability of Namma Metro while also contributing to the city’s broader push for sustainable energy solutions.
