No Alcaraz, No Problem! Spain Scripts Davis Cup History With Comeback Win Against Denmark

No Alcaraz, no problem said Spain’s Davis Cup team.
Pablo Carreno Busta outclassed Denmark’s Elmer Moeller at the Club de Tenis Puente Romano on Sunday evening to complete a historic comeback and secure Spain’s return to the Davis Cup final eight.
On a day of high drama, Spain overturned a 0-2 overnight deficit for the first time in the competition and trialised the line-up for the season-ending showpiece in Bologna.
All this was done without the aid of Alcaraz, Davidovich-Fokina, or Granollers — history scripted regardless.
Pedro Martinez Dominates
Spain’s Davis Cup comeback was led by Pedro Martinez, who starred in both doubles and singles on Sunday.
Martinez and Jaume Munar recovered from a poor start to beat Denmark’s August Holmgren and Johannes Ingildsen 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, keeping Spain alive. Hours later, Martinez saved a match point and stunned world No. 11 Holger Rune 7-5, 6-7, 7-6 in a dramatic three-hour battle.
Rune, rattled by the Davis Cup atmosphere, was warned for smashing balls out of play as Martinez fought tirelessly.
“The feeling was incredible. I’ve been fighting all my life to be here today,” Martinez said after the match.
“I did everything I could and left all my heart on the court. The feeling of the Davis Cup is totally different.”
Spain’s victory finalised the line-up for the Final 8, which will be staged at the Bologna Faiere on November 18-23. The other seven competing nations are Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, and defending champion Italy.
